General

This black electric guitar from Squier's Vintage Modified series was modelled after the famous Fender 1972 Telecaster Custom. It has the same classic looks and sound as the original but with a price that is much easier on your budget. This guitar is fitted with the famed full-toned Fender Wide Range humbucker in the neck position, and a feisty Duncan Designed single-coil next to the bridge. The outer features of the Squier Vintage Modified Telecaster Custom are virtually identical to those of the original. However, the playability has been radically improved thanks to modern medium jumbo frets and a relatively flat 9.5-inch fretboard radius.

Vintage Modified Telecaster Custom: versatile sounds

The difference between a standard Telecaster and the Telecaster Custom is in the humbucker neck pickup and the LP-style electronics. Fender originally designed the Wide Range humbucker to compete with the humbuckers of 'that other big guitar brand'. However, this pickup ended up combining the best of both worlds. It has the rich, clean tone of a single-coil with the warm sound and output of a humbucker that pairs perfectly with the clear bite of the bridge pickup. The result was a Telecaster with an exceptionally wide tonal range, perfectly suited for various types of music from country to hard rock. Additionally, the three-position pickup switch was moved upwards and both pickups got their own tone and volume control. Also, the standard Ash Tray bridge with its three adjustable saddles and strings-through-body construction never left, to provide more attack and sustain.
