If you're thinking of trying your hand at the keyboard, the Casio LK-130 is an excellent place to start. Not only does it have a budget-friendly price tag, it features 61 illuminated keys. By lighting up the right keys, the LK-130 teaches you the basics of keyboard playing in a fun way, while a matching lesson system enables you to hone your skills in three levels. The keyboard boasts 100 different sounds, which are reproduced by two built-in speakers, but if you'd rather practise quietly, you can also plug in a pair of headphones.

LK-130: backing styles and songs

Even if you're no longer a beginner, the LK-130 is a pleasant instrument to practise your skills with. In addition to a wide range of instruments - including piano, organ, guitar, bass, strings, horns and synthesizers - the keyboard offers a number of automatic backing styles. Play your chords in the left section of the keyboard (you can use one finger or form complete chords yourself), and the LK-130 provides you with a backing rhythm of your choice, while a clear display shows you everything you need to know. For inspiration, the Casio keyboard boasts a song bank with 100 songs. The LK-130 is powered by batteries or an adapter (both are separately available).
