You won't tire easily of the Casio WK-240. Not only does it have a wide, 76-key keyboard, it also boasts a number of special features, ranging from automatic backing styles and lesson features to audio and microphone inputs. The keyboard's foundation, however, consists of 600 different sounds. With the WK-240, you can play any type of instrument, and its AHL sound generator ensures a convincing sound. The power of your key strokes determines the volume of the notes, while various digital effects add a nice touch.
WK-240: songs and lesson features
Using the WK-240, you can learn how to play the keyboard in your own way. It's a great instrument for keyboard lessons, but you can also use it to practise by yourself. To help you out, a song book is included, which features 152 famous songs (both classical and popular music) that are also programmed into the keyboard. To learn how to play these songs, you start by practising the left and right-hand parts independently, one phrase at a time. When you have them down, you can play them both at the same time. The keyboard's LCD display shows you which keys to strike.
Backing and sampling
Besides a variety of educational features, the keyboard offers an impressive 180 backing styles. Based on what your left hand is playing (chords, simplified chords, or single notes) the WK-240 provides backing in a music style of your choice. Another great additional feature is this Casio's sampling functionality. Plug a microphone into the 6.3mm input, and you're able to record sounds and play them back at various pitches. You can also use the mic to sing along with your own performance over the speakers, and it's even possible to play along with the music on your smartphone, thanks to the inclusion of an audio input.
