General

This budget-friendly set consists of the Roland SPD-SX Sampling Pad, a matching Roland PDS-10 stand and two stylish Vic Firth 5A drum sticks. The Roland SPD-SX doesn't only enable you to play samples, but to create them as well. Whether you select a short fragment, a looped phrase or a complete audio track, a simple hit on one of the 9 pads triggers the desired sample. As such, the SPD-SX is an excellent addition to your acoustic or electronic drum kit, DJ setup or keyboard, on the stage as well as in the studio!

The creative options of the SPD-SX

The 2GB internal memory of the SPD-SX enables you to record no less than 360 minutes of mono audio material. By means of the Wave Manager software, files can easily be exchanged and managed with your computer. If you'd like even more control, simply connect your other electronic percussion devices to the two additional trigger inputs of the sampling pad. Three multi-effects with matching effect controls are also at your disposal. With the SPD-SX, popular brand Roland offers a fantastic sample pad with a wide range of creative options.

Wat een beest, wat een mogelijkheden, wat een speelgevoel! Allemaal top! Waarom dan toch geen 5 sterren? Het is mij gewoon te veel. Het instellen, samples downloaden en invoeren, de mogelijkheden zijn er, maar ik kan er gewoon niks mee worden!

Degelijk en goeie kwaliteit statief van Roland.

Ik gebruik dit statief voor mijn Roland Hs-5. Top combinatie!
Naast de snelle en goede service van Bax is dit echt een aanrader.

Heb 2 jaar geleden dit toestel gekocht bij bax-shop, heb er sindsdien enkel problemen mee gehad.. Het toestel hapert, 'freezed' volledig waardoor ik hem enkel uit en aan kan doen door de electriciteit uit te trekken... Heb absoluut geen service gekregen van de mensen van Bax-shop, heb het toestel vervolgens bij verschillende instanties laten herstellen, maar telkens als ik de spd terug kreeg deed zich hetzelfde probleem voor. Ondertussen heb ik hem 4x opgestuurd en telkens een kapot toestel terug gehad... Bax weigerde me een vervangtoestel mee te geven terwijl ik als professioneel muzikant nood heb aan een SPD-sx.

Handig voor Live
----------------------
All sounds off button, voor als je een per ongeluk de verkeerde pad triggert.
Padcheck zodat je via headphones de boel kunt checken zonder de zaal ermee lastig te vallen.
Duidelijke display en leds voor pads en buttons

Routing Opties
--------------------
MASTER out, SUB out en headphones.
MASTER en headphones hebben eigen volume knob.
Routing afzonderlijk instelbaar per pad per KIT.
Handig voor de geluidsman om bijvoorbeeld los van je andere pads de kick en snare van een KIT over SUB out te krijgen. Of om bijvoorbeeld de click te sturen via SUB naar je bandleden.

CLICK
--------
Te syncen via usb (laptop, DAW) of MIDI IN kabel zodat je dus clicktracks nog steeds via SUB out kunt sturen. Verder kun je de click tempo instellen per KIT, en kun je samples met tempo match aanpassen.

Audio Interface & MIDI
--------------------
Laptop meenemen met je VST plugins, die met MIDI triggeren via usb en vervolgens de audio weer kunnen uitsturen over MASTER, SUB of headphones. Je zou de AUDIO IN nog via KIT FX2 kunnen routen, en MASTER FX als je hem over MASTER out stuurt. Tegelijkertijd kun je gewoon nog gebruik maken van de onboard samples. Volume balans tussen onboard en audio in is instelbaar. Per pad per KIT kun je MIDI channel, note value, external control en gate instellen. Andere MIDI CC data zoals de twee pots, KIT + en - zijn ook door te sturen.

KIT FX
-------------------------
Per KIT kun je twee KIT FX's kiezen uit de lijst van onboard FX's. Vervolgens kun je per pad per KIT kiezen of hij via FX1 of FX2 geroute moet worden. Live kun je makkelijk de KIT FX's aan en uit schakelen maar niet de instellingen ervan aanpassen. Dat kan alleen voor de MASTER out FX (delay, filter, s-loop en custom FX) met behulp van de twee pots.

Minpunten
--------------
Geen hihat/expression pedal trigger input
Geen velocity-layered sampling, dus alleen volume wordt aangepast van sample en sub-sample.
Geen Live-looping, misschien via loop pedal of laptop (DAW zoals Ableton Live).
Schouder pads duidelijk harder aan slaan dan 6 vlakke pads.
Vlakke pads triggeren niet bij de hele lichte ghost-notes, zelf met treshhold settings op 0.
PC Wave Manager software kan weinig, onofficiele spd-sx-editor is beter maar kost 26 dollar.
Samples moeten 16 bit depth zijn, gebruik nu GoldWave Batch processing (gratis) om te converteren.
Wordt niet geleverd met mounting plate, heb de goedkope plastic alesis mount gekocht die goed bevalt.
Tomarm en 2 klemmen moeten gebruiken om hem te plaatsen waar ik wil.

Volgens mij is er nog meer mogelijk met een flinke firmware of software update, maar het voelt toch alsof ROLAND dit niet belangrijk vindt. Het apparaat is qua hardware en specificaties ook out-dated, maar alsnog geen teken te vinden van serieuze nieuwe plannen. Features liggen onnodig verspreid over de SPD 30 Octapad, SPD SX, en de YAMAHA DTX MULTI 12.

Tot nu toe nog geen problemen tegen gekomen. Heel makkelijk in gebruik en eenvoudig om zelf samples op te zetten. Zelfs de presets zijn goed om aan te horen en zorgen ervoor dat je er direct mee aan de gang kan gaan. Top sample pad!

Deze samplepad is ideal voor wat ik het gebruik, het is heel makkelijk om te programmeren heel userfriendly! Een beetje ingewikkeld als je in de pad zelf wat wil samplen maar verder heerlijk om mee te werken!
