Meet the smallest member of Focusrite's Scarlett family: the Scarlett Solo. This compact interface is equipped with two different inputs, a stereo output and a headphone input. It has a sturdy die cast aluminium housing and features a number of clear, comprehensive buttons. The Scarlett Solo is ideal for home recorders, but is also great for musicians who use an interface during live performances. Thanks to the rugged housing, it can definitely take some rough stage use! With this interface, you don't need to worry about small technological details - all you have to worry about is making music!
Focusrite Scarlett Solo: compact yet versatile
Despite its compact dimensions, the Scarlett Solo is equipped with a serious preamp. The preamp is actually a descendent of the same family as the famous ISA preamps by Focusrite, which means that it has great quality, a clear sound and plenty of warmth. On the front of the device you'll find an XLR input with a gain knob, and to protect your interface from overloading, the gain knob will light up whenever the incoming signal is too high. The second input is a jack, which can be used for either a line or a guitar signal; this input is also equipped with the same type of gain knob as the first input. Finally, you'll find a large master volume rotary knob for adjusting your sound in its entirety.
Use
Once you get started recording, you'll notice quite quickly that an interface is one of the primary requirements. The Scarlett Solo offers everything you need for making a good, high-quality recording. You can easily connect a condenser microphone to the first input, for instance. It's also possible to connect a set of headphones directly to the same input so you can monitor your recording. That means that the signal doesn't have to go through your computer first, so you will hear the recorded signal directly. Overall, this little red beauty is a sleek, professional-quality interface!

De bouwkwaliteit is erg goed, netjes afgewerkt en ook de knoppen voelen stevig aan.
Ook de "gain" lampjes achter de draaiknoppen zijn erg handig en makkelijk in gebruik.
Ook de "direct monitor" is erg handig en de volumeknop voorop is ook echt ideaal.
Na veel speuren kwam ik er achter dat van de A-merk interfaces de geluidskwaliteit eigenlijk allemaal goed is, dus kijk gewoon welke en hoeveel aansluitingen je nodig hebt en of je de bijgeleverde software ook echt gaat gebruiken.
Voor mij 5-sterren. voldoet aan mijn verwachtingen.
Ook de leveringstijd was zoals beloofd, tot nu toe komen al mijn bax-shop bestellingen optijd en goed verpakt aan.

La réputation de Focusrite n'est plus à faire.
Le son de mes guitares arrive très pur dans mon ordinateur et le bundle de logiciels fourni est parfait pour débuter en MAO.

Ik moest zelf wel even puzzelen hoe het geluid het best hoorbaar is als ik de hoofdtelefoon aan sloot. De instellingen in Garageband en Logic moest ik ook even zoeken, maar nu werkt alles erg intuitief en gemakkelijk.

Op het moment dat ik mijn oude pioneer interface afkoppelde en de nieuwe scarlett aansloot werd ik letterlijk weg geblazen door de kwaliteit van het geluid!
Ook over de bezorging van Bax-shop ben ik zoals altijd weer erg tevreden!

Op mac is het plug & play, op windows moeten eerst de nodige drivers gedownload worden.
Er komt een lite versie van Ableton bij maar vind persoonlijk Garageband fijner dus gebruik het eigenlijk niet.
Erg handig is de direct-monitor uitgang zodat er geen latency optreed.
Het enige wat ik eigenaardig vond is dat de direct-monitor uitgang de instrumenten line-in en de 3-pins line-in weergeeft maar niet allebei tegelijk door kan sturen naar m'n pc. Het is dus een solo-interface die in principe twee kanalen tegelijk op kan nemen maar de gebruiker hierin limiteert.
Voor de rest ben ik er erg tevreden mee.
