General

With regards to inputs and outputs, the Apollo 16 Quad is the biggest model from the Apollo series. As its name implies, this audio interface offers no fewer than 16 analogue inputs. Additionally, it boasts 18 outputs and various professional connectors such as AES/EBU and MADI, and it allows you to use Universal Audio's renowned UAD plugins. Compared to its predecessors, the Apollo 16 Quad features a fully redesigned AD/DA structure, resulting in an open, honest sound with a wide dynamic range. Thanks to its excellent electronics, this interface won't give you any unwanted hum or noise.

Universal Audio Apollo 16 Quad: a professional interface

This Apollo can be used with a variety of professional devices, owing to the aforementioned MADI and AES/EBU ports. Both protocols are frequently used for broadcasting and post-production - applications that are no match for this audio interface's incredible processing power. The Apollo 16 Quad's analogue inputs and outputs can also be connected using D-sub multi-cables, a format that's often found on higher-segment audio gear. Would you like to connect the interface to your monitors? No problem, simply use its two balanced XLR outputs.

UAD processing

The Universal Audio company has a rich history that includes, among other things, the basic design of the modern-day mixer. The manufacturer also produces various dynamic processors. To optimise their devices' performance, Universal Audio came up with the UAD system, which emulates both classic and modern effects in exceptionally high quality. The UAD devices themselves supply the necessary processing power. Naturally, the Apollo 16 Quad also boasts this UAD functionality, which means you can use plugins without burdening your computer's CPU. To get you started on the right track, the interface comes with the Realtime Analogue Classics Plus Bundle.

Buy this product before December 31st, 2015, and you'll receive a free UAD-2 Quad after registration at Universal Audio.
