General
The Universal Audio Apollo Quad is a professional external audio interface with four built-in SHARC DSP processors. Data is transferred to your computer via a FireWire 800 or Thunderbolt connection. 18 inputs and 24 outputs can be extensively monitored via the graphic interface, which also allows you to adjust the desired signal in real time with the world-renowned UAD plugins.
UAD plugins and the Apollo Quad
The Universal Audio plugins are renowned for their natural sound and life-like simulation of analogue studio classics. These could already be used before in your DAW via the UAD2 cards, but the Apollo Quad lets you also use them on the incoming signals with a delay of under two milliseconds. Four built-in DSP processors are responsible for this option. The sound card is also delivered including the Analog Classics plugins, and also supports the other plugins that can be downloaded from uaudio.com.
Connections
This 24-bit / 192kHz interface doesn't only look wonderful, the internal components and options provided are as impressive. It features four high-grade digitally controlled microphone preamps, eight balanced line inputs and outputs, monitor outputs, eight channels ADAT I/O and 2 channels S/PDIF I/O, among other things. Via the front controls you can enjoy complete control over all popular functions, like preamp gain, channel selection, +48V phantom power, low cut and monitor volume. The Core Audio and Asio drivers make the interface perfect for nearly any DAW, like Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Cubase, Sonar, Reason and Live.
Tips or comments about this product
- If you want to connect this product to your computer, you'll still need a Thunderbolt expansion card.
- This product is identical to the Universal Audio Apollo audio interface Duo, the only difference s that the Quad version features four instead of two processors and therefore has an increased capacity.
- Please note: if you are going to use the Apollo in combination with Windows 7 (64 bit), you need a PCIe-to-FireWire 800 card. Only use the Sonnet Allegro FW800/E or the Syba SD-PEX30009 to this end.
