General
With the Zen Q Synergy Core, Antelope Audio present the next step in the Zen range. The Zen sets you up with flexible I/O with eight additional inputs over ADAT and stereo I/O over S/PDIF, as well as two discreet, super-linear preamps equipped with a console circuit that delivers that warm, vintage sound that we all crave. Two extra analogue inputs can also be found fitted on the rear complete with a Hi-Z/line mode switch. Meanwhile, the unbelievably fast Thunderbolt 3 computer connection reduces latency to near-non-existent, and the AD/DA conversion is every bit as superior as you'd expect. The Zen Q also features the much-renowned 64-bit Acoustically Focused Clocking (AFC) tech that comes with all Antelope Audio gear as standard, to ensure an outstanding instrument separation and superb stereo imaging. Even after it's been packed with all of that, this interface is still bus powered, so can serve as the ideal recording hub on location.
The Synergy Core Platform
With the introduction of the Synergy Core platform, a massive array of effects have been transferred to the Synergy Core series interfaces, including emulations of iconic, vintage preamps, equalizers, compressors, and modulation effects. With the Zen Q Synergy Core interface, you get no less than 37 of these effects (and amplifier sims) included, along with the option to expand the bank by a further 50+ effects that can be purchased via the Antelope Audio website. The biggest perk of these effects is that they're run directly by the DSP and FPGA chips loaded into the interface. This doesn't just ease the processing work of your computer, but ensures latency-free monitoring and recording, and it's precisely because these chips are so powerful that the Synergy Core effects are able to mimic the original hardware with such accuracy. The result is genuinely breathtaking, and barely divisible from what you would get with a genuine chunk of hardware.
