Laney comes out with the compact IRT-SLS guitar amp head. A 200-watt Ironheart head with more volume for guitarists to play nice and loud live, but which, like the IRT-Studio, can also be used in the studio. Because this is a hybrid amp, the tube sound is provided by the 2 ECC83 tubes in the preamp and the power of the guitar sound comes from the transparent transistor output stage. However, if you are playing on a stage where 300 watts is a little too much of a good thing, push the watt-potentiometer back in and, if necessary, wear this potentiometer a little more to the left. Then the top will be back in the standard 60-watt mode instead of the high-power setting touched on earlier.

Ironheart IRT-SLS: output via USB or XLR

Do you take your amp on the road quite often and want to place this Ironheart rackmount top protected in a 19-inch rack? Then do so using the separately available rack ears. Incidentally, this makes it particularly easy to place in a studio rack. This Laney also excels in this situation. Want to use it to record your guitar parts in your DAW or recording app? Then connect it via USB to your Mac, PC, Android or iPad. However, you get not 1 but 2 signals at once. The amplified guitar sound via the right side and a clean DI signal via the left side. The IRT-SLS also features an XLR DI output with a handy level potentiometer, which you could use both live and in the studio.

Tweaking during re-amping and silent recording without a speaker cabinet

When you record both the aforementioned signals via USB, you also have something to fall back on. Do you still want to tweak your sound after a tightly played guitar part? Then make use of the IRT-SLS's reamp option. That way, you only have to focus on the sound and you definitely get the best of both worlds. By the way, you can undertake your recording practices quietly in the dead of night without bothering your neighbours. Because the Laney Ironheart's internal Dummy Loadbox means you don't have to connect a speaker cabinet at all while recording, and you can hear the sonic upgrades of the cabinet simulations through your headphones.
