Active humbuckers often have a powerful, clean and open sound with sparkling overtones and tight basses. The same description would also fit good elements for a seven-string guitar. However, some people don't like the sterile, modern sound of active humbuckers. The DiMarzio DP720BK D Activator Bridge 7 delivers the sound of an active humbucker with high output and a clean sound, but without sounding sterile. The dynamic element responds sensitively to your attack, making it very versatile in timbre. Like active humbuckers, the DP720BK reproduces a wide frequency spectrum so that even the low B string of the seven-string guitar can be heard thick and clear. Because the D Activator 7 only sounds like an active humbucker, but actually isn't, it needs no batteries to operate.

Bridge position

The DiMarzio DP720BK D Activator 7 goes into the bridge position of your electric guitar. In this position, the element sounds at its best and you will be able to reap its full benefits. Because this humbucker reproduces a loud, clear attack, they sound very powerful when the sound comes out of the amp. This is similar to the sound of active elements, but they are often less dynamic and tend to create a limiting effect when the attack is harder. The D Activator 7 Bridge has a very dynamic sound and there is a lot of 'room' to hit harder or softer. Like all passive elements, the DiMarzio D Activator 7 Bridge requires potentiometers with a minimum value of 250k, although 500k potentiometers are recommended. If you play with a lot of effects or with long cables, it's worth installing a 1000k potmeter in combination with the D Activator 7.
