Because eight-string guitars are still fairly new, there is not yet a standard conception of the sound of an eight-string guitar pickup. The DP820BK D Activator 8 Bridge incorporates everything DiMarzio believes an eight-string guitar pickup should meet. The D Activator 8 Bridge reproduces a wide frequency spectrum. This is necessary because the range of the eight-string guitar is so wide. The element sounds defined and dynamic and does not go 'muddy'. The lows sound deep and percussive while the highs can be heard clearly without becoming shrill.

High output

DiMarzio's D Activator 8 Bridge is an element with a very high output. The two magnetic coils are both tuned to different frequencies. This ensures powerful, tight basses and a warm treble with extended harmonic overtones. The low end of the DiMarzio DP820BK D Activator 8 is as tight and clear as that of the D Activator elements for six- and seven-string guitars. The high frequencies are slightly warmer and therefore have a less sharp sound. This thick sound makes the D Activator 8 pickups very suitable for playing the somewhat heavier styles of music.
