In 1951, Gretsch asked Fender to no longer use 'Broadcaster', a name that Fender used on one of their models. Gretsch made drums under the name Broadcaster and felt plagiarised. After that, Fender made guitars without a name for a few months, which was referred to by connoisseurs and enthusiasts as the 'Nocaster': the very first Telecaster. The Fender Custom Shop makes a worthy set of ' 51 Nocaster pickups.

Fender Custom Shop '51 Nocaster Pickups

This set consists of two single coils - a shiny neck pickup with a zinc-plated finish, and a black bridge pickup. The alnico 3 magnets and the high-quality enamel-coated coils produce that much-loved twang; strong and clear, it allows your Telecaster to cut through the mix with smooth and persuasive mid frequencies. This pickup set includes mounting materials and transforms the sound of your instrument in true Fender Custom Shop fashion.

Heb deze set gekocht voor een project. Hele fijne sound, lekker twangie. In vergelijking met mijn Custom Shop Telecaster mis een tikkie warmte...maar is persoonlijk. De set is zeker een aanrader om je gitaar te upgraden. Alles zit erbij om ze in te bouwen!

Heb mezelf als tweede gitaar een butterscotch Squier Affinity Telecaster met maple neck aangeschaft. Hoe kunnen ze het maken, zoveel gitaar voor zo'n lage prijs? Natuurlijk is er dan ergens op bezuinigd en dat zijn ... de pickups. De oplossing laat zich raden: zet 51 Nocaster pickups in deze gitaar en je speelt hierna op een gitaar met een wereldsound! De nek-pickup klinkt niet meer wollig, maar helder, vol en gedefinieerd - het brug-pickup klinkt niet meer scherp en minder afgestemd, maar warm helder en gedefinieerd - en de middelste stand met beide pickups aan, levert het beste van twee werelden.
Deze set is een aanrader - je Squier Telecaster klinkt als een Fender Telecaster! Chapeau!
