The Meinl FD18T-D represents one of the oldest type of drums known in music history: the tar. This extra-large frame drum with a deep shell and single sheet gives a warm, full sound and has deep tones. The frame is 18 inches in diameter and 4 inches deep, and is made of Brazilian rubberwood.

The FD18T-D has a brilliantly unique grained Brown Burl finish. This frame drum is strung with a high-quality goat skin, but is also available with Meinl's own True Feel synthetic skin. The frame has a pleasant notch especially for the thumb. It also features an internal tuning system for minimal interference while playing. The Meinl FD18T-D comes complete with tuning key.
