General
Yamaha are able to understand the very specific needs of absolute beginners like no other, and as such, it would be tough to find a keyboard so comprehensive and capable of providing a leg-up for the rookie pianist as the PSR-E463. We can confidently state that this keyboard really does offer everything that a beginner needs, alongside a considerable arsenal of sounds fit for the experienced player. Pianos, synthesizers, organs, orchestral instruments, drums, and instruments originating from all over the world come supported by more than 235 automatic accompaniments in a vast range of styles.
A Groove Creator and a Stack of Arpeggios
While the sounds and backing options build the core of any great keyboard, the Yamaha PSR-E463 pushes the experience further by adding a Groove Creator and Live Control panel that edge into DJ-style production where you can literally build your own grooves. A fat stack of 150 different arpeggios also come loaded in, so you can trigger an automatic pattern by striking just one note or chord and use it as a backdrop for your own compositions.
Lay Down Your Tracks
This keyboard can even record your compositions for you, and does it with ease. Simply plug your USB stick into the provided port, and your recordings can be saved as audio files. If you've composed a number of songs, they can be saved as MIDI data, or the MIDI notes or audio information can be sent directly to your computer using the second USB port. This even works the other way around, since you can play back audio files from your computer through the built-in speakers of the PSR-E463. Of course, you can just as easily connect up your smartphone or tablet to the mini-jack socket to playback and play along with your best-loved tracks and pieces. This keyboard not only provides everything a beginner needs to nail those first melodies, but everything they need to start making their own.
