An American Standard Stratocaster with Custom Shop sound

Legendary guitar maker Fender has updated its American Standard Stratocaster with no less than a set of Custom Shop Fat '50s single coils. These pickups are usually only found on the more exclusive, and far more costly, Custom Shop guitars. The Fat '50s offer you a fatter version of the rich, clear Strat sound from the fifties as they have a little more output and bass as well as a milder mid range. Thanks to the reverse wound middle pickup, this guitar is hum-free in the pickup switch's mid positions. The bottom tone knob is a no-load potentiometer that takes itself out of the circuit completely in position 10, to provide a purer, more aggressive single-coil tone. As a tribute to the original Strat, the pickup covers and knobs were given an aged-white finish for an authentic, vintage look.

The American Standard Stratocaster combines the looks and sound of a vintage Strat with a modern guitar's functions and playability. This guitar allows for extremely low action without buzzing strings or lost notes thanks to its modern neck construction with 22 medium jumbo frets, a relatively flat 9.5-inch fretboard radius and the two-way truss rod. The American Standard 2-point tremolo feels more supple and provides an excellent tuning stability. It is also equipped with friction-reducing vintage-style bent saddles that prevent string breakage. The staggered tuners for the D, G, B and E string have been lowered, eliminating the need for a second string guide. The result is less friction, less excessive noise and more tone and sustain.
