General

Until recently, if you were looking for an affordable mandolin to add to your instrument collection, you would have come home empty-handed. Your average mandolin costs a pretty penny. Fazley is changing things, though, with the FMA218SB. It's an affordable way to get familiar with the world of mandolin playing without having to make a scary monetary commitment right off the bat.

Construction

The Fazley FMA218SB is an A-style mandolin. Where other models typically feature luxurious, expensive decorations, this type of mandolin is known for its more modest style. As such, every feature of an A-style mandolin is there to serve the sound. The body has an attractive sunburst finish and the spruce top features elegant f-holes.

Sound

The spruce top provides the FMA218SB with plenty of sparkle in the high range, while the sapele sides and back provide the necessary warmth. The walnut fretboard and maple neck play their part in the sound too, adding their own nice bit of warmth. You can expect a good, balanced sound that accentuates both the high and low range, and all of that for an extremely competitive price.

Soy guitarrista y está es mi primera mandolina. El envío ha sido bastante rápido y ha llegado bien envuelta. Tras afinarla y probarla varias horas puedo decir que por el precio que tiene, obtienes un producto más que correcto. No requiere ajustes en la acción, no es incómoda de tocar para nada (mi mayor temor en instrumentos de esta gama) y el acabado correcto. Una mandolina muy funcional. Yo la voy a usar para producción, y con un cambio de cuerdas y un poco de ecualización, tengo lo que andaba buscando.

Leuke mandoline voor beginners. Wat details zoals de slagplaat en dergelijken zijn matig afgewerkt, maar de belangrijke onderdelen functioneren prima. Misschien waard om een andere brug te laten plaatsen, aangezien de bijgeleverde brug zelfs op de laagste stand een te hoge actie oplevert.

Voor die prijs had ik er niet veel van verwacht dus ik was erg aangenaam verrast. De snaren en afwerking van de hals en slagplaat zijn erg matig maar alles wat wel belangrijk is zoals body hals en stemschroeven is zeker goed. Ik heb er een set Martin snaren bij besteld en nu speelt en klinkt hij geweldig. Ben vooral erg verrast van het volume, als ik met plectrum speel dan kan ik er nog net bovenuit zingen. Kortom, geweldige Mando voor beginners maar ook goed voor gevorderden met een krap budget.
