General
Intuitive composing was the basis of development of the Maschine Jam MIDI controller by Native Instruments. In this day and age, composers need to be able to put productions together quickly, and that's exactly what the Jam does. Simply connect it to your computer or laptop with a USB cable and use the 64 coloured touch pads to categorise individual notes, melodies and chord progressions in standalone mode or in your DAW using the Maschine software. Creating a melody is as easy as selecting a scale which you can then combine with an arpeggiator, for example.
Maschine Jam: Build Tracks with Ease
With the Maschine Jam, you can build up a song track for track and group specific or random notes together in a musical context. This way, you can develop truly unique sounds in real time which you can then import into your DAW for further editing or mixing with your favourite effects. The sequencing doesn't only work with melodies, but also with rhythms and tempos. Use the 64 touch pads to program notes directly in the Piano Roll mode.

First of all, the very latest version of Maschine features the most advanced technology that's sure to entice your creativity. Defining scales, assigning note values and lengths is all child's play with the Variation Engine feature. Combine multiple instruments and effects parameters using the built-in macros and fine-tune your work with Smart Strips. Last but not least, finding instruments, samples and effects is simple thanks to the intuitive Browse mode. As well as the Maschine software, you'll also get Komplete Select, a selection of the latest samples from Native Instruments' Komplete software.

Native instruments have done it again.
They always know what the people want.
Maschine MK3 and komplete midi controllers work amazing together and now with maschine jam on board has opened an even bigger world for me to explore.
My music was amazing but now I have more tools it will be more amazing.
Keep up the good work guys.
Can't wait until the next controller comes on the market.

Ik kocht m om naast Traktor ook Maschine te kunnen gebruiken, dat werkt super! Sterker nog, ik gebruik de Jam tegelijkertijd als controller voor Traktor (in Midi modus) en voor Maschine (in Native modus). Door te switchen op de controller kun je beide softwares parrallel gebruiken.
Daarnaast gebruik ik Ableton Live steeds meer: de bijgeleverde Template voor Live werkt goed (waarbij de Jam dus als Ableton controller werkt) en ook hier kan ie dubbele functies aan; als ik de Maschine VST draai in Ableton kan ik hier ook switchen via Midi modus / Native modus, en zowel Ableton als Maschine gebruiken.
De controller is stevig gebouwd, en de feedback werkt zoals je zou verwachten. Al met al ben ik veel meer gaan produceren dan ik vooraf had verwacht. Dat is een feest, onder andere vanwege de dikke softwares synths die mee worden geleverd (mn Monark en Massive zijn te gek).
Pas op: dusdanig verslavend dat je voor je t weet hardware synthesizer aan t shoppen bent...

Als ik het goed heb moet je de pattern length langer maken dan je scene legth. En als je dan je scene length kort genoeg maakt en loopt kan je i.p.v. scene 2 te drukken je loop opheffen en hierdoor krijg je hetzelfde effect. Als ik tijd heb zal ik dit nog voor de zekerheid testen.

Bij gebruik van Maschine als plugin in Ableton geraakt het apparaat het noorden kwijt en krijg ik het niet meer in "Ableton Mode". Even afzetten en aanzetten verhelpt het probleem. De kleuren van de loops in Ableton vertalen zich ook op de hardware van Maschine Jam, Het ontbreken van meerdere draaiknoppen om parameters 'live' aan te sturen in Ableton is een beetje een gemis, maar De APC40 van Akai heeft dat dan weer wel, wat de combinatie van de twee apparaten compleet maakt.
Dit speeltje heeft me de afgelopen week de tijd doen vergeten. Prima keuze.

Het is een tof kastje met vernieuwende dingen.
Alleen zoals heel vaak het geval is weet ook Native Instruments met hun software dit kastje niet goed te benutten.
Zo is er geen real time stretching aanwezig zoals bij bv Abelton.
En in song mode als je pattern 1 laat spelen en je drukt halverwege op pattern 2 wacht de software niet tot het einde van pattern 1.
Ook zijn de preform FX niet zo leuk alleen stutter FX is wel gaaf.
Toch geeft ik het 4 sterren in de hoop dat Native Instruments eindelijk hun software 2016 maken
