General
A decent PA system contains at least one subwoofer and to be honest, a 2+2 system is no frivolous luxury! To get your hands on such a system, you don't need to break the bank, however. The Mobile Road Series by DAP Audio might be just the thing for you. This is the DRX-12B, the passive subwoofer from the series. The 12-inch woofer with 2.5-inch voice coil allows for wonderful low-frequency reproductions, which run from 50 to 400 Hz, if crossover is not used. The DRX-12B weighs less than 18 kg, but nevertheless allows for a solid bass sound that supplements the middle and high tones of a passive full-range speaker.

The DRX-12B is powered via a lockable speaker connector and is also provided with a thru output, for the daisy chaining of amplifier power. It has a continuous capacity of 300 watts at 8 ohms. The peak power of 600 watts allows for good headroom for any PA applications and countenances dynamics, without making it sound forced. A maximum SPL of 123 dB is also quite impressive! The DRX-15B is roadproof thanks to the 15mm thick plywood, which is finished with scratchproof black lacquer. A stand flange on top allows for the mounting of a distance rod for a satellite speaker. All in all, this is a lot of bass for little money!

Wrote the following about DAP DRX-12B passive subwoofer
Licht van gewicht (ik geloof nog geen 15 kg per stuk, maar stabiel als een huis, zelfs met een flinke luidspreker erbovenop). De metalen tophat is ook een pluspunt. Deze is tevens zeer stevig.
De subwoofers zijn aan de voorkant beschermd met een soort stof, wat ze tevens aantrekkelijk voor het oog maakt. Het volmetalen logo is ook mooi.

Geld waard (destijds 221 euro p/s)? Ja!
Begin juli gaan ze mee naar een feestje, en ben benieuwd hoe ze langdurig presteren op ongeveer vol vermogen.
