General
The Devine B118 passive subwoofer has been given an upgrade! It still features a powerful 18-inch woofer and a 4-inch voice coil, but the B118 MKII has gone up from an 80oz to a100oz magnet, so this already feisty sub is able to deliver even more punch. The bass reproduction is fully enhanced by two large bass reflex ports, and when you combine this sub with the Devine B118 MKII, Trono 12 or the Trono 15 and you have a winning setup for a remarkably budget-friendly price.
Additional Boost
The new and improved woofer of the Devine B118 MKII has a frequency range of 35 to 3,500Hz (-10dB), so even the lowest bass frequencies are clearly audible, while the two large bass-reflex ports add an extra boost and ensure fluid airflow throughout the cabinet. The Devine B118 MKII can effortlessly handle a 900 Watt RMS amplifier.
Setting Up the Devine B118 MKII
To make the most of your Devine B118 MKII passive subwoofer, it's best to use a decent amplifier equipped with bridge mode. Add a speaker like the Trono 12 or Trono 15 and you're all set up. You can easily mount a satellite speaker on top of the cabinet by securing a distance rod to fitted 35mm stand flange, while two side-mounted handles aid lifting and positioning.
Tips or comments about this product
- This subwoofer is not equipped with its own amplifier module and / or internal crossover / filter. That means you need a quality amplifier that supplies sufficient power, plus a signal processor (a speaker management system or a crossover) that divides the incoming signal from your audio source so only the low frequencies are sent to the subwoofer. The subwoofer is not capable of reproducing high frequencies. Transmitting a full-range, unfiltered audio signal to a subwoofer can cause permanent damage! Make sure that no frequencies higher than 3,500 Hz are sent to the subwoofer. For an optimal audio performance, set your crossover between 100 and 200 Hz (recommended). When in doubt about a suitable setup, please feel free to contact our help desk for custom advice.
- For optimum results, we recommend that you use a single amplifier in bridge mode per subwoofer, such as the American Audio XLT-1200 or, if your budget is limited, a Skytec SKY-3000.
- The subwoofer is delivered as a single unit. The other speakers and accessories are merely pictured for illustrative purposes and will not be included.
- This MKII edition is equipped with a redesigned woofer.
