Meinl FD16SD 16-inch Sea Drum African Brown

Meinl's Sea Drums are basically just frame drums with a synthetic resonance skin and a goat skin on the percussion side. The FD16SD's rubberwood frame has a diameter of 16 inches and a depth of 2.75 inches. The sea sound is created when you gently move the drum. To see this technique properly, it is recommended to watch the added videos. In it, Meinl percussionist Larry Salzman clearly shows the techniques and sound possibilities of these unique drums. There is a small hole in the frame that can be closed with a rubber cap. Thanks to this hole, it is possible to remove all, or part of the balls, to 'tweak' the sound from a full, open sea to a small babbling brook. The Sea Drums are regularly used for soundscapes and sound effects in films.
