At first glance, this seems to be a regular triangle on a stand If that were all, it would still be pretty great. However, Bill Saragosa didn't stop there! The entire instrument is made of a special steel alloy, and has a relatively low pitch when compared to a regular triangle. Its base functions as a resonance chamber, and the unusual thing is that it's partially filled with water.
Unique tonal possibilities with the Liquid Triangle
By moving the instrument around and changing your grip on it, you're constantly changing its pitch, timbre and sustain. Bill Saragosa series
When Meinl asked percussionist Bill Saragosa to design some instruments for them, Bill came back to the Meinl factory with a collection of the most bizarre, unique and unusual percussion instruments. For instance, there are the four Spark Shakers: the Original Spark Shaker, the Spin Spark Shaker, the Headed Spark Shaker and the Clamshell Spark Shaker, all with their own unique possibilities and timbres. Of course, the series contains a number of other rather special instruments, such as the Cone-Stack, the Helix Bowl, the Liquid Triangle and the Galaxy - the latter, in particular, being completely out-of-this-world!
