G. Schirmer - Mussorgsky: Pictures at an Exhibition for piano

When artist and architect Viktor Hartmann died suddenly in 1873, a major exhibition of his works was organised in his memory. On the occasion of this exhibition, his friend and admirer Modest Mussorgsky wrote probably his most famous work, 'Pictures at an Exhibition'. It was originally written for piano, and later orchestrated by several composers including Ravel and Rimsky-Korsakov. This Schirmer edition contains Mussorgsky's original compositions, arranged for piano. The book contains black-and-white images of the original drawings and paintings by Hartmann on which the suite is based. Due to the difficulty of the pieces, the book is especially suitable for advanced pianists.
