General
While the French brand, Two Notes, is mainly known for their studio-based gear, their new series of preamps are fully aimed at stage use. The Le Clean tube preamp has captured the legendary sound of Californian tube amps from the days of old, which were loved for their sparkling clean character. While Two Tones originally wanted to give the pedal a French name, we can't help but agree that Le Clean sounds just a little bit better than Le Propre.
Le Clean: Two Channels with Cold/Hot Fusion
The first channel gives your guitar an ultra-clean sound while the second comes with a deliciously subtle American-style overdrive. The Le Clean isn't just any two-channel preamp, however, as both channels boast individual tone controls and the option to fuse into one. Cold Fusion puts both channels in parallel, meaning you can adjust the blend yourself. Hot Fusion switches the channels to series, with channel A basically working as a boost for channel B.
The FLP318SBLH: Solid Construction
The stage-friendly preamps from Two Tone all offer extensive routing options, making them just as effective during gigs as they are during studio sessions. Each pedal has also been graced with a True Bypass circuit and unbalanced in and outputs as well as a balanced output that can be hooked up for direct recordings while you monitor your performance using the headphone output. A Post EQ FX loop is also provided alongside a MIDI in/out that opens up more unexpected functions like using this pedal as a MIDI controller.
