General
Featuring four combi microphone/line inputs, the U-PHORIA UMC404HD is the largest interface from Behringer's U-PHORIA series. Each microphone input has its own insert, which opens up a world of possibilities, particularly for guitarists and the UMC404HD's preamps were developed by Midas, ensuring top quality. With this audio interface, you'll be able to make 192kHz recordings at a 24-bit rate; plenty of space for full-blown studio projects.
The Behringer U-PHORIA UMC404HD: Latency is No Problem
Despite modern developments in computer technology, latency is still a potential problem when you're recording with digital gear. Due to data processing, the recorded signal is reproduced with a slight delay. Behringer has come up with a clever solution, however, with their direct monitor function which transmits the input signal directly to the headphone output. The result? Latency-free monitoring!
Tracktion Sequencer
To allow you to make the most of this interface, Behringer has developed their own sequencer named Tracktion. It makes recording, mixing and editing a piece of cake and like other famous DAWs, it supports VST and AU plugins. You can also use Tracktion to host virtual instruments and effects by third parties. When you register the interface on Behringer's website you'll get a free download link for the program.

Tech-free zone. I need an interface for two things: playing on JamKazam with other band members (until we can get together properly) and direct recording into Reaper. Bought this because I was using a Presonus product which (a) sucked in JamKazam, and (b) one channel just died. Plugged this in 5 minutes before the latest JamKazam session, took me 10 minutes to figure out (JamKazam's fault) and then kick it - everybody could hear me, no horrible noises going on, no latency from this box, sound's never going to be great over JamKazam but this box works fine. For Reaper, I just realised how terrible the Presonus thing was. This is so sweet-sounding. I've recorded shred guitar, heavy synth, and stuff like acoustic viola, mandolin, recorder, guitar. Watch the gain and it all comes through beautifully. Is it a professional recording box? Don't be silly. But it works great on my PC.
Seen some reviews questioning its ruggedness. Can't comment. Next time I take it out to use as a rugby ball I'll give you my honest opinion.

Great little unit!
Seems solid built and sounds great, used for recording guitar/mandolin using a pair of small condenser mics and direct through an instrument cable. Simple to set up and use and very pleasing results so far.

Bax and Behringer does it again!
I already use a XENYX QX1222 USB desk, (see my review for details), but I needed more USB streamed Audio Tracks than the 2in/2out available.
This gives me another four Midas Preamp's, plus another four in/outs via USB at a price where I don't mind obtaining more of these units in the future...

Yes, well pleased with the Bax shop service, very fast delivery, and the prices are superb.
The Behringer UMC404HD is perfect for my needs as a home computer music recordist, I can multitrack with four inputs simultaneously now.
Another handy thing was that by downloading the ASIO4ALL driver from a third party, Cubase 8.5 will allow for all the inputs of the Behringer UMC404HD, and my all the inputs from my older Tascam US122 MK2 to be used simultaneously, thus allowing six multitrack recording.
The Behringer UMC404HD is perfect for my needs as a home computer music recordist, I can multitrack with four inputs simultaneously now.

Nagenoeg al mijn gebruikte apparatuur is van Behringer. Ik ken de Midas XLR inputs uit mijn XR18 en XR32, dus had hoge verwachting van dit apparaat. De computer via USB aangesloten en een mooi ruisvrije connectie. Omdat ik ook de iPad er bij wil mengen heb ik die op de audio ingangen gezet en werd verwelkomt met een bak ruis waar je U tegen zegt. Alle knoppen en standen geprobeerd, maar de ruis is gewoon niet weg te krijgen. Ook de andere poortjes getest en eigenlijk gewoon het zelfde. Eerst nog even getwijfeld over de kabel, maar als ik die zelfde kabel in de XR18 stop dan is hij ruisvrij, dus moet echt iets zijn in deze UMC404HD. In de huiskamer nog wel te doen, maar voor live optreden onbruikbaar. Overweeg nu toch maar de duurdere Focusrite aan te schaffen.

Top apparaat! Driver installeren, inpluggen en gaan. Low latency, high resolution en meer dan genoeg in- en uitgangen voor mij. Ik twijfelde nog even om een Scarlett te kopen, maar de daar bijgeleverde software heb ik niet nodig en daar betaal je uiteindelijk wel voor. Geen spijt van mijn keuze!
