Fender electric mandolins have been used since the '50s and '60s. Modelled directly after the unique four-string instrument, the Mando-Strat is now available with no fewer than eight strings - as the Fender Mando-Strat 8! This is an instrument that is like an electric guitar in many ways (with a resonant solid alder body and a single-coil pickup), but that sets itself apart with its compact, mandolin size and 2x four strings.

Two times four strings on the Mando-Strat 8

The Mando-Strat isn't just tuned like a mandolin, it also sounds like a mandolin. Only double strings will give you the sparkling tremolo effect that the mandolin is known for. To make way for the extra strings, the Mando-Strat was fitted with a different headstock: the unmistakeable Fender Villager, or 'Hockey Stick'. Its what makes the Mando-Strat 8 the unique, amazingly sounding and tasteful vintage-style folk instrument that it is.
