General
The current Artstar series by Ibanez combines classic looks with modern features and this AF151F-VLS really brings the beautiful jazz boxes of yore to mind! However, its construction and components is completely up-to-date. This model is based on the AF151 but has had some adjustments. For instance, it has a spruce top and volume and tone potentiometers mounted on the pickguard. The AF151F-VLS is a limited edition and comes with a deluxe Ibanez case.
Ibanez AF151F-VLS: construction and sound
This semi-acoustic guitar is characterised by its full hollow body with a back and sides made of flamed maple The arched top is made of spruce and has two great-looking f-shaped sound holes. The neck is made of two pieces of mahogany with intervening pieces of maple and has an ebony fretboard. This combination of wood types and construction gives the Ibanez AF151F that clear bite and natural, expressive tone of a classic jazz guitar.
Electronics and finish
The Ibanez AF151F is equipped with a floating AMH1 mini humbucker at the end of the neck. This pickup preserves the punch and acoustic character of the guitar, without causing that notorious 50Hz hum like the older jazz boxes did. The body as well as the neck of the AF151F-VLS have a beautiful Violin Sunburst finish. Even the flamed maple pickguard got a bit of that sunburst finish, to give you that authentic vintage look.
