To create a lot of volume, you have to move a lot of air. That's why a deep snare drum has a greater dynamic range than a shallow snare drum has. For that reason, the Big Black Steel was fitted with an 8-inch deep shell with a diameter of 14 inches. It is 1 mm thick and finished in a great-looking matte black colour. The snare drum is equipped with 2.3mm Steel Mighty hoops, hi-tension lugs and with hi-carbon steel Snappy Snare snare wires, for an optimal dynamic range.
