This is a limited edition product, that was created to celebrate Tama's 40th anniversary. this 14 x 6-inch drum offers an exceptionally potent projection. Tune the head up for a loud and direct sound, and tune it down for that old-school, low sound. Whatever you do, this snare will always produce a crystal-clear and open sound that cuts through any mix without effort.

The Starphonic PTS146 5mm steel shell Limited Edition 2014 stands out because of an impressive array of exclusive features. It's equipped with a modern 'grooved' hoop, that is not just sturdy, but actually enhances the natural tone and projects it upwards. Furthermore, this 'Grooved Hoop' makes your snare more sensitive, and gives you more accurate control. Together with the MTL960S Freedom Lugs and Claw Hooks it makes replacing the drumhead a breeze. Unlike an earlier edition of this snare drum, the shell has been completely finished in chrome this time around.
User-friendly and very sensitive
Tama has also made this limited edition Starphonic snare as user-friendly and comfortable to use as possible. The snare wires, for instance, are highly sensitive and are held in place by the Linear-Drive snare strainer that minimises pressure on the shell. Even if you move the arm rapidly, you will not hear that well-known slap of the wires hitting the bottom head. You can even replace the bottom head without losing the tension settings on your snare wires.
