The Tama Superstar Hyper-Drive in Transparent Black Oak is a limited edition shell set. It consists of a 22-inch bass drum, 10 x 6.5 and 12 x 7-inch toms, two floor toms (14 and 16-inch) and a 14 x 5.5-inch snare drum. The shells are made of birch, with an outer ply of glossy finished oak. The Hyper-Drive name refers to the toms: these are a little shallower than the standard toms are, allowing for more punch, better attack and a great response.

The shells of this Transparent Black Oak shell set have Tama Precision Bearing Edges. These bearing edges make sure that the shells can resonate freely and have an open sound.
