The Gretsch G9241 Alligator Biscuit Round-Neck is a resonator guitar from the Roots Collection with a Chieftain Red finish. The mahogany body produces a warm, solid sound that mixes with the Ampli-Sonic resonator cone giving you distinctive, swampy tones. The cone is Gretsch's own design and made of 99% pure aluminium for an impressive sound with plenty of volume.

Alligator Biscuit

The neck has a rounded, medium V profile which means that the Alligator Biscuit can be used as a standard guitar or as a steel lap guitar. No matter whether this is your first resonator or you've been playing them for years, this model is easy to get to grips with. Despite the impressive volume it's capable of, the ability to amplify it can come in handy too which is why it's equipped with a Fishman pickup.

Resonator guitars

The resonator guitar was invented before the electric guitar and was designed specifically to produce more volume than standard acoustic guitars were capable of so that they could be heard when playing alongside orchestras. The metal resonator cone picks up the string vibrations via the bridge and itself begins to vibrate which produces the distinctive resonator sound. The fact that it sounds different from standard acoustic guitars is what has kept it alive today, long after the invention of electric guitars solved the problem of them not being loud enough.
