The Fender Deluxe Active Jazz Bass V is a 5-string electric bass guitar for demanding performing bass players. This Mexican Fender has the classic J-Bass looks but also carries several modern improvements such as a comfortable C-shaped neck with 20 medium jumbo frets and a 9.5-inch fretboard radius. The most important features of the Fender Deluxe Active Jazz Bass V however, are the Fender USA electronics with active three-band EQ, ultra-silent Noiseless pickups and five-in-line, slender Gotoh self-lubricating tuners.

Deluxe Active Jazz Bass V: American electronics

The two noiseless pickups of this Fender Deluxe Active Jazz Bass V look and sound like traditional J-Bass single coils, but thanks to their stacked dual coil design they're as silent as humbuckers, so no more 50Hz hum. The additional electronics consist of master volume control and a Dynamic Select potentiometer to blend the sounds of the two pickups. The other two knobs are part of the active 3-band EQ, that is divided over a dual potentiometer to boost and filter both trebles and basses, and a boost/cut control for the mids. Classic Jazz Bass looks and construction

Befitting a true Jazz Bass, the Fender Deluxe Active Jazz Bass V is equipped with a comfortable and slender asymmetrical alder body. Alder is a wood type that is light of weight and that produces a balanced tone with neat basses and strong mids. The guitar's maple neck is bolted on to the body and has a width of just 47.6 millimetres at the nut which makes it easy and comfortable to play. This version has a deep-black lacquer and a chic brown-red tortoise pickguard as well as a vintage-style bridge with five individually adjustable saddles.
