Now, more than half a century later, this bass is still popular thanks to its powerful sound and comfortable body. This Precision bass is from Fender's Player series that follows on from the highly-popular Standard series. It's also made in Mexico and offers the same excellent value for money.

The Player Precision bass is made of alder which is a wood type with a high level of density that gives it excellent resonance. The Player series split single-coil pickup was newly-designed for the Player series and delivers the renowned, typical punchy P-bass sound that can be tweaked to perfection using the volume and tone control knobs.

Hele fijne p bass. Kleine schoonheidsfoutjes die bij een MIM te verwachten te zijn gezien er gewoonweg minder aandacht is voor QC. De pickups klein beejte moeten stellen door een wat ongelijk schuim onder de pickup maar dat is zo gefixt. Goede stevige doos voor levering dus de zending kan niet voor problemen zorgen. Heel blij mee.

Mooie gitaar. Heb altijd een voorkeur gehad voor palissander, maar in combinatie met deze kleur body vind ik de esdoorn toets geslaagd. Anders dan ik had verwacht merk ik geen verschil bij het bespelen. Ik dacht altijd dat esdoorn een hard droog en springerig oppervlak opleverde, maar deze bas speelt soepeltjes. Als jazz bas speler moet ik er wel aan wennen dat ik nu een flinke plank in mijn handen heb. Wat een brede hals!
Afwerking van deze Mexicaan doet echt niet veel onder voor mijn Amerikaanse Fender. Geen schoonheidsfoutjes. De bas komt zo goed als speelklaar uit de doos, ik heb éen zadeltje moeten bijstellen. Weegt maar 3,7 kilo, ergonomisch in orde dus. De bas geeft het karakteristieke 'woody' geluid dat bij een Precision hoort. Geen bijgeluidjes, degelijke en soepel lopende knoppen voor volume en toon. Robuuste open machine heads. Ik heb de af-fabriek snaren vervangen door Thomastik flatwounds waardoor de bas een fraaie muted knor geeft. Prima basgitaar en als je het mij vraagt in een goede prijs-kwaliteit verhouding.

Na enige wachttijd de bas keurig ontvangen. De afstelling uit de doos is waardeloos, daar moet je even wat tijd aan besteden. Wel verrast door de kwaliteit van de snaren die er op zitten, niks mis mee. Bas speelt lekker, nek is comfortabel, fretwerk is goed. Klank is goed, lekkere ronk. Zou voor mij nog wat smeriger/donkerder mogen.
