This mahogany brown Ibanez SR500 is a four-string electric bass guitar from the Soundgear series and has an elegantly shaped, thin body. Its bolt-on neck is made of 5 parts Jatoba and Bubinga wood for extra strength and stability and makes it look good as well. The bridge has an improved design for a better transfer of string vibrations to the body. In other words, the SR500 BM sounds fuller, tighter and more direct than ever! This is the perfect, versatile instrument that every modern bass player dreams of!
Sound and construction of the Ibanez SR500 BM
The body of the Ibanez SR500 BM is made of mahogany, giving it a beautiful full sound with deep low and rich mids. It has a comfortably narrow and thin neck and is fitted with a 24-fret rosewood fretboard with beautiful oval abalone inlays. Thanks to the improved bridge design of the SR500, you're more certain that the bridge saddles stay in place. The height of each saddle can be adjusted with only one screw. The body as well as the neck are unpolished and are finished with a layer of oil for a silky feel and a natural look.
Bartolini pickups and active tone control
The Ibanez SR500 Soundgear bass is equipped with two Bartolini pickups which have a very wide frequency range and excellent definition. This way, you can produce very subtle tones. The split coil design prevents humming and ambient noise and provides a warmer sound with extra punch. With the balance button you can seamlessly blend the neck and bridge pickup. The SR500 also has a Bartolini active 3-band equalizer on board with which you can boost or filter the low, mid and high frequencies. Finally, the guitar has a switch for an alternative mid frequency range.

Een zeer prettig lichtgewicht, een anorexia magere hals, leuk voor de bassisten met kleine vingertjes en uiteraard de befaamde Bartonlini\s.
Je zou zeggen prima bas, maar helaas met mij was er geen wederzijdse klik. En dat had niets met de afwerking of kwaliteit van de bas te maken maar meer met de body van de 500.
Op een of ander manier konden mijn armen/handen /vingers niet lekker overweg met deze bas.
Hij ziet er modern mooi uit maar helaas.
Hetzelfde " euvel" had ik trouwens ook met de peperdure 1200 serie, prachtig bas op zich maar de body voelde niet goed.
Maar goed, voor de bassisten met zwakke rug zou deze bas eigenlijk weer perfect zijn....Het is een populaire bas en dat zal niet voor niks zijn , maar het geluid was gewoon basic goed, uiteraard niet bepaald vintage maar modern en ik hoorde ook het hout niet echt goed, meer de electronica.
zelf maar een opgepompt hifi geluid. Ondanks het dat de standard Bartolini s heeft.
Voor mij dus een twijfelgeval. Maar ik benadruk: het is mijn idee en gevoel over deze mooie 500.
