General
The JS3QM Concert Bass is a four-string electric bass guitar from Jackson Guitars' JS Series. These models from the entry-level series by Jackson have a reliable construction and a friendly price. This bass guitar has a basswood body with a beautiful flamed maple top and as a result, this bass produces a warm, defined sound with lots of sustain. The maple of the op has a very appealing grain structure, which remains visible underneath the glossy transparent, red lacquer. The bass is also equipped with two Jackson Humbucker bass pickups and has that typical Jackson headstock.
JS3QM Concert Bass: The sound
The JS3QM is armed with two humbucker pickups with a high output for a powerful, fat sound. Each pickup has its own volume control which allows you to take charge and create the perfect mix between these pickups. You'll also have a 3-band tone control at your disposal for the finishing touch. The bridge of the JS3Q is a High Mass model that provides more tone as well as sustain.
Compound radius-fretboard
The bolt-on neck is made of hard, strong maple, and it is fitted with a 24-fret rosewood fretboard and mother-of-pearl shark inlays that mark the positions. The fretboard has a compound radius in order to increase playing comfort. This means that the fretboard is flatter at the higher positions than it is at the lower positions.

Ik was toe aan een vervanging van mijn Samick "Fearlane"4-snaar bas.
Ik heb deze bas online besteld maar in de winkel gaan afhalen. Bij in ontvangst name bleek de doos flink beschadigt te zijn. Na controle geen beschadiging gevonden aan de basgitaar zelf. Bij thuiskomst uiteraard de bas getest en dat viel gelijk tegen. De snaren kletterden tegen de frets. Na controle van de halskromming bleek dat de halspen te sterk aangedraaid was met een vlakke hals tot gevolg. Deze heb ik dan in enkele keren losser gezet totdat de kromming exact 0,35 mm bedroeg op de 7de fret. Dan de actie terug bijgesteld en klaar was kees. Geen fretbuzz meer en een zeer goede klank zoals beschreven in de productinformatie.
Van de 3-voudige toonregeling ben ik niet zo tevreden. De hogetonen regeling heeft zo goed als geen invloed op de klank. Ik vermoed dat het dezelfde toonregeling is die Jackson in de gewone gitaren steekt en bij de bas dus weinig of geen effect heeft.
De balans bij deze bas ligt correct en de hals is zeer soepel te bespelen.
Al bij al toch een goede koop geweest maar geen 5 sterren omdat ik zelf de halspen heb moeten bijregelen, een werkje waar ik toch enkele uren mee zoet geweest ben. (telkens de snaren ontspannen en daarna terug toon en intonatie regelen)
