The Jazz Bass (or J-Bass) is one of those famous Fender models that is readily recognisable by its distinctive shape. Its powerful, very present sound is an excellent match to blues, funk, reggae and even metal. The Squier Affinity J-Bass V is the attractively priced version of the J-Bass by Fender affiliate Squier. It has the same tonal advantages and is fitted with five, instead of four, strings for an even larger bass range. Additionally, the Squier Affinity Jazz Bass V has a chic black finish with a white pickguard.

Features of the J-Bass

In the 1950s, Fender designed a number of guitars and bass guitars that are still amongst their most popular models today, like the Stratocaster and Telecaster and Precision and Jazz Bass for instance. Contrary to the Precision Bass, the J-Bass is equipped with two single-coil pickups providing rich mids and trebles that makes the bass guitar stand out in a band. Also, the Jazz Bass features a more narrow neck for comfortable playing.

As is the case with the Stratocaster and Telecaster, the Jazz and Precision Bass electric bass guitars have often been imitated at lower prices. Fender wanted to provide the starting guitarist with their own attractive and reliable alternative and so started an affiliate in 1982.
