Product information

General

The QW10 has a ten-inch aluminium shell, strung on one side with a hand-selected goatskin. A bamboo stick is attached in the centre of the goatskin. Rubbing the stick with a damp cloth or sponge and varying the pressure on the skin with your other hand creates different sounds and pitches.

The Cuica: a special addition to your setup

The instrument is mainly used in Brazilian samba music, but it is certainly not an unknown instrument in pop music. The origin of the instrument is not entirely clear. Some say that Bantu slaves from Nigeria brought the instrument with them to South America. Various theories about the cuica confirm its African origins. Many believe the instrument was used in Africa to lure and capture male lions, as the sound of the cuica is very similar to the call of a lioness.
