Vandoren
Product no: 9000-0018-3081
For saxophones, Parisian manufacturer Vandoren has had a line of mouthpieces called Optimum for ages. Especially for soprano saxophone, an SL5 model has now been developed in addition to the already well-known SL3 and SL4. Of the three, it has the largest tip opening (1.25 mm) and, like the others, a short path length. As a result, it delivers a very full sound in both the high and low register, but it does require greater control from the player. On the other hand, this mouthpiece can be used for any style of music.
Vandoren is a family-owned company that has over a century of experience in making mouthpieces for saxophone and clarinet. The Optimum line is one of its most successful and best-selling product series. For the best sound, it is recommended to use reeds of at least thickness 3, with the type best chosen according to the musical style.
