Epiphone present the ES Collection E-335: a more affordable version of the legendary ES-335 semi-acoustic guitar built by parent company Gibson, packed with various welcome upgrades. The semi-hollow maple body shapes that much-loved airy foundation while the C-profile mahogany neck gives this model a trusted, familiar feel. Amplified by two Alnico Classic PRO humbuckers the sound og this electro-acoustic thinline spans an array of tonal colours.
The Inspired By Gibson ES-335: CTS Pots, a GraphTech NuBone nut and LockTone Hardware
The electronics section of the slimmed down ES-335 has been loaded with genuine CTS pots while a set of Grover machine heads has been teamed up with a Graptech NuBone nut and Epiphone's own LockTone bridge and tailpiece to support pure intonation and stable tuning. Topped with the classic charm of a Kalamazoo headstock, this instrument bears distinct Epiphone style.

I was genuinely surprised at how well-made this guitar is. The fit and finish was faultless. I have seen reviews in the past which high-lighted issues with defective pots and sharp frets, but the guitar I received was just about perfect. The set-up required no adjustment, there were no blemishes, dinks or marks that I could find and all the electrics worked fine. I also have an Ibanez A93 (which is much more expensive) and I was pleased to find the ES-335 lighter and significantly more resonant. I think Epiphone got the build right, it is not over-engineered to the point it deadens the sound. This guitar sings, unlike other semi-hollows I've played. If I have a quibble, I fear the pick-ups are not as responsive as I would like. I think I will need to swap them out with something with more grit and grunt. However, this is an excellent guitar for the price. Highly recommended..

Excellent guitar for the price, and just a very good guitar if you do not take the price into account.
Really playable out of the box, but a few tweaks make it even better.
Lemon oil on the fretboard, polish the frets, round the fret edges a bit better. These simples things make the guitar nicer to play.
The sound is really good. Unplugged, you can feel the resonance of the notes for quite a long time.
Whether you like these pickups will really depend on your taste. They sound pretty good if you want a rather soft sound: perfect for blues, jazz, or 60's rythm sounds. Some people might miss a bit of bite for more energic styles of music.
I could not justify the price of a Gibson considering what I could get with the Epiphone.

Na jarenlang alleen op akoustische gitaren gespeeld te hebben wou ik een gitaar waarmee ik ook een elektrisch geluid kan maken. Ik ben zanger in een prog-rock band, dus lijkt de keuze voor semi-akoustisch misschien raar. Maar ik vind het geluid van deze Epiphone heel mooi en rond, waardoor het fijn contrasteert met de andere instrumenten. Met mijn speelverleden speelt de hals heel natuurlijk en soepel, maar ik kan me voorstellen dat iemand met een elektrisch verleden een dunnere/plattere hals zoekt. Het centerblock zorgt ervoor dat rondzingen goed beperkt wordt.
Net als Jan in een eerder post was ik onder de indruk van de Gibson ES 335, maar er staan nog wat andere dingen op mijn verlanglijst. Deze Epiphone komt kwa speelgevoel goed in de buurt, zeker als je meerekent dat de prijs 5 keer lager is.

Een prima gitaar, goed bespeelbaar en een mooi geluid. Het origineel van Gibson past niet in mijn budget maar deze gitaar heeft een grote gelijkenis met de Gibson ES 335. Op YouTube zijn meerdere voorbeelden te bekijken waarin de Epiphone positief wordt getest. In sommige gevallen bijna niet van een Gibson te onderscheiden. Op zich logisch voor een merk dat onder de paraplu van Gibson valt, alle specs van het origineel zijn voorhanden. Ik ben al in het bezit van een Epiphone Masterbuilt akoestische gitaar en de positieve ervaringen daarmee hebben zeker meegespeeld.

Heb inmiddels al meerdere gitaren uitgeprobeerd (fender strat/Les paul) maar geen een die helemaal aan mijn verwachten voldaan. Nu heb ik de epiphone es 335 aangeschaft en WOW wat een geweldige gitaar. geweldig geluid en zeer comfortabel en heeft ook nog de mooie rock n roll looks. Zeker aan aanrader om sowieso te testen. Ik ben zelf helemaal tevreden!
