John Scofield and Ibanez have been collaborating for over two decades, and the latest fruit of their labour is this signature-flagship model, the JSM100: the most up-to-date version of the legendary Japanese semi-hollow-bodied guitar. Crafted using figured anigre for the body, African mahogany for the neck, and deluxe ebony for the fretboard, this thinline hollowbody shapes warm mids - even unplugged - and packs ample sustain and a rounded bite across the treble range.
The JSM100: Works for Me
This evolved version features a set-in neck with Scofield's own JSM profile and a compound fretboard that not only graduates from 7.24" to 9.84" but comes lined with 22 jumbo frets, each finished with the Prestige Fret Edge treatment. For that classic round and flexible range of amplified jazz sounds, Ibanez have packed out the build with two Super 58 humbuckers, while excellent tuning stability is taken care by first-class hardware supplied by respected Japanese manufacturer Gotoh.
