General
Combining a unique padauk and maple hybrid construction with all the modern design perks, this edition of the Mapex Black Panther Design Lab five-piece brings the brightest and most open sound in the BPDL series. The single-flanged tension hoops help improve resonance, resulting in rich and lively tone which is backed up by the versatile, all-round warmth and plenty of depth delivered by the shell material. This rock configured set bundles up a 10 inch and 12 inch rack tom with two 16 inch floor toms and a 22 inch kick.
The Mapex Black Panther Design Lab Equinox
The three shells have been given a classic Satin Flat Black finish before being mounted with brushed hardware, from the high-grade Master Tune Lugs to the Sonic Pedestal floor tom feet and SAS Attenuating Floor Tom legs, and the angle of each floor tom leg can even be set individually to ensure maximum resonance. To finish, both toms have been fitted out with 2.5mm Triple Flanged tension hoops and polished off with SONIClear bearing edges, resulting in flatter and far improved shell-to-drumhead contact.
