This particular 4-piece shell set is made up of a 22 inch kick drum, a 10 inch and 12 inch tom, and a 16 inch floor tom, each of which features a gorgeous Antique White Japanese Chestnut finish. Drummers that are already on the hunt for a kit upgrade will probably be familiar with the sought-after sound of the maple and bubinga kits that Tama already have on offer, and are just likely to be just as blown away by the Walnut series. This specific wood gives the shells a more airy response and a rich, vintage-flavoured character while boasting the same range as maple and bubinga wood shells. Both the toms and floor tom have a 5mm-thick, six-ply shell, while the kick has a 7mm-thick, seven-ply shell. Expect plenty of depth and a satisfyingly dark tone framed by prominent mids and sub-basses - as close to bubinga as it gets.

Lightweight Construction

Since the shells are thinner, they're also lightweight, which not only makes life a bit easier for gigging drummers, but makes tuning a lot smoother. The toms have an especially broad tuning range and an outstanding response. The kick is just as easy to tune, and any drummer willing to experiment with dampening will immediately notice just how stylistically versatile it is. Tama's own Super Resonance Mounting System has been included, which is so efficient that it reduces resonant transfer from the toms to the barely existent, and the set also comes equipped with Quick Release Brackets for fast tom and floor tom positioning.
