Tama's HP900RN Iron Cobra 900 Rolling Glide bass drum pedal offers extra stability and has an improved action compared to its predecessor. It's equipped with a Power Strike Cobra beater that offers more attack and its frame has been widened. The base plate is wider too and it's now connected to the foot plate using the new Hinge Guard Block which minimises stress and maximises smoothness. The Swivel Spring Tight is also new and ensures a lighter, smoother action for a more natural playing feel.

The Para Clamp II Pro ensures a secure attachment to the bass drum hoop and won't leave any scratches. By using rubber, it won't come loose during playing either. Tama clearly took another look at 2014's successful Speed Cobra series when it came to improving the action. The same Lite Sprocket used on that series can now be found on all the new Iron Cobra models. It's Lite Sprocket that gives the chain a better connection with the footboard improving the action. Finally, the Swivel Spring Tight system allows the base of the spring to swivel with the pedal's movement for a more natural feel and optimal smoothness. The pedal even comes complete with a specially designed hard case.
Rolling Glide or Power Glide?
You're probably wondering what the difference is between a Power Glide and a Rolling Glide pedal. With a Power Glide pedal the cam gives the beater some extra speed just before hitting the drumhead, increasing the action. If you prefer drum bass pedals with an even speed, the Rolling Glide is a good option.

Verschil met de power glide is de cam van het pedaal. Dat is een kwestie van gevoel en smaak. Ik hou zelf iets meer van de extra 'swiep' van de power glide waarbij de klopper op weg naar het vel versnelt. Deze rolling glide heeft, net als de speed cobra, een ronde cam waardoor de actie/snelheid van de klopper constant gelijk blijft. Maar het zijn allemaal toppedalen!

Toch heb ik hem geruild voor de Speed Cobra. Deze is min of meer hetzelfde maar met longboard zodat de heel-toe techniek iets makkelijker te leren is. ook is het voetblad glad aluminium (bij de IC is het ruw) en is de klopper van een soort meeverend plastic ipv vilt. Dat zorgt voor een iets hardere attack. Tot slot lijkt de SC heel ietsje soepeler maar dat kan ook gevoelsmatig lijken door het gladde voetblad. Hij ziet er wat meer 'smooth' uit...;-)
