The 12 inch Tama LBU127-SBG S.L.P. snare has a fierce and bright response that, thanks to the 7 inch depth, never gets too sharp. Meanwhile, the Bubinga shell packs out the sound with warm fullness, making this snare a solid pick for hip-hop and soul drummers. Basically, the S.L.P. Mod Bubinga snare might be small but brings all the power you would want from your main snare, while the top-shelf shell hardware completes a tour-ready workhorse. The hoop on the batter side is 2.3mm thick, which supports a bright attack and more stable tuning at high tensions, while the hoop on the resonant side is just 1.6mm thick and is a bit more flexible, pulling more detailed sound out of the snare wires.
