The soprano recorder is the best-known type of recorder. These flutes are tuned in C and are octavering instruments. They sound an octave higher than noted. This recorder is made of transparent plastic and is coloured blue. The instrument has a Baroque bore, which means that the fourth hole seen from above is slightly smaller than the rest. With a German bore it is the other way round, in which case the fourth hole is larger. The difference is in the fingering. As an example; with a Baroque bore you play an F like this: thumb + 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6 and 7. With a German bore, the same note would be played as follows: thumb + 1, 2, 3 and 4. This Stagg recorder is three-piece; a bell, a centre piece and the mouthpiece. Ideal if you want to clean the instrument. Comes with case and wiper.

Recorder

The recorder is the ideal instrument to discover the first principles of music with. Plastic recorders have a number of advantages over wooden recorders. For instance, the instrument is insensitive to moisture. Plastic recorders require almost no maintenance. Because plastic recorders are relatively cheap, they are used a lot, especially in music schools and primary schools where pupils receive their first music lessons and do not yet know whether they will continue with music, or which instrument they eventually want to choose. Many musicians have started their careers on recorders.
