Speaker Components information

At Bax Music, you can find a massive range of parts to build, mod or repair PA speakers, studio monitors and guitar amplifiers. Whether you're looking for a new woofer, mid-range driver or tweeter, we have it all, including parts by big names like Beyma and Celestion.

Speaker Components for Repairs and Custom Builds

In our range of Internal Speaker Parts, you'll find all of the parts that generally help to produce sound, and in the External Speaker Parts section, you'll mainly find the bits and pieces needed to finish, transport or connect your speakers.

The Various Parts of a Speaker

Woofers

The woofer of a speaker is designed to reproduce the mid and/or low frequencies. Larger woofers are naturally better at taking on lows than smaller woofers, most of which are mainly aimed at mid-range frequencies up to 3 kHz.

Tweeters

Tweeters take care of the high frequencies only. On average, a tweeter will be able to cover the 2 kHz to 20 kHz frequency range.

Crossovers

A built-in crossover is vital for most speakers. Crossovers are basically electronic filters that split an audio signal into two separate frequency ranges (e.g. low - mid/high).

Connecting Terminal

Of course, no speaker is ever complete without power and audio inputs.

Other Parts

There are many more parts you can find inside speakers, like diaphragms, horns, filters, etc.

Building Your Own (HiFi) Speaker Requires Knowledge

It's not easy to build your own speaker using the parts listed above if you don't know what you're doing. What's more, buying all of the required components is usually more expensive than buying a speaker off the shelf, however, the big advantage of building a custom speaker is that you're able to hand-pick the parts and build a speaker that fully meets your needs in terms of technical specifications. Not only that, it's a lot of fun to build your own gear!
