General
The SK1 is Hammond's entry into the stage piano field. The 61-key Hammond SK1 is remarkably compact and offers both minutely adjustable, authentic Hammond sound, as well as a wide range of other instruments. Pianos, harpsichords, clavinets and accordions, are included along with saxophones and synth pads. As such, the SK1 is a worthy enough to square that famous red Swedish instrument. It weighs just 7 kilos, but has all the heart and soul of the big Hammonds and Leslies. All in all, the SK1 is both practical and inspiring to use.
SK-1: Great Stage Keyboard, But True Hammond?
The compact SK1 uses advanced modelling technology to reproduce that authentic Hammond sound. Two VASE III sound generators offer 96 fully adjustable tone wheels so if you're looking for a gritty, old-school sound, or a tight, howling sound, you can set it up in no time. You have 12 Hammond profiles and 17 parameters to flip through and, furthermore, the SK1 features 8 highly realistic Leslies, all fully adjustable. Besides all the Hammond organs, you can also choose from a selection of Vox and Farfisa organs.
Pipe Organ and Instrument Collection
If you prefer a more classical repertoire, this stage piano also includes 32 digital banks of pipe organs. You can select and even adjust the various voices with the drawbars. Samples of 37 other instruments including the Yamaha C7 and CP70, Rhodes, DX7, Clavinet D6, various wind instruments and a number of synthesizer presets ensure that you can tailor the sound of the SK1 to fit any situation. Each instrument has been sampled and programmed with great detail and evident care. Finally, the Hammond SK1 even features a built-in WAV and MP3 files player. The Hammond SK1: Much more than an organ.
