General

The Gretsch G9550 signals the return of the classic New Yorker archtop guitar. The instrument features a typical Grand Auditorium body with a beautifully arched top, ensuring a sound that is ideal for music genres such as jazz, blues and country. Various vintage-style details, including a tortoise-shell pickguard, a trapeze-style tailpiece, a Vintage Sunburst finish and elegant f-shaped sound holes, complete the fantastic look of this G9550 Archtop.

The excellent sound of the G9550

Thanks to the combination of maple (with its typically feisty sound characteristics), a solid top with excellent resonating qualities and six sparkling steel strings, the Gretsch New Yorker Archtop produces a clear, powerful tone. The western guitar is also equipped with reliable Grover Sta-Tite tuners that keep it tuned to perfection, and, in addition to its excellent sound, this acoustic guitar provides you with a supple, pleasant playing experience.

Wrote the following about Gretsch G9550 New Yorker Archtop western guitar

Magnifique guitare archtop, je ne me lasse pas de la regarder, dans l'ensemble les finitions sont très bonne, juste un ou deux mini défauts de peinture/vernis mais il faut regarder à la loupe. Le fini satiné est superbe et je ne me retrouve pas avec une énorme couche de vernis qui me bloquera le son. Manche en V agréable, pas trop marqué, donc aucun problème de prise en main, chevalet flottant en bois (lequel? je ne sais pas, mais pas de plastique en tout cas!). Manche légèrement concave en réglage usine, pour le moment je n'ai pas touché le truss road car ça me va comme ça, l'action me convient et ça ne frise pas.
Projection épatante, je ne m'attendais pas à ça, j'avais essayé d'autre archtop où il fallait rentré dedans pour sortir un son, celle-là donne un son feutré lorsque l'on joue au doigt et donne l'impression dêtre amplifié dès que l'on sort le médiator.
Très satisfait donc de la gamme acoustique (chinoise) de Gretsch, à ce prix je ne pense pas qu'il y d'équivalent rapport son/finition.
