General
When you're producing, logically you use your nearfield monitors the most. Still, it's useful to switch monitor sets every now and again, especially if you have a surround set or additional monitors at your disposal. The Presonus Central Station Plus - the ultimate studio monitor interface for any modern digital studio - allows you to do just that. This 19-inch controller has plenty of inputs for all your monitors, and comes with a practical remote, so you always have the main commands within hand's reach.
Characteristics of the Presonus Central Station Plus
The Central Station has three analogue stereo inputs that allow you to switch between your DAW, mixer, CD or DAT player, keyboard or sampler. Two of the stereo inputs feature balanced TRS connectors, while the third stereo input has RCA connectors. The Presonus interface also boasts two digital inputs (S/PDIF and TOSLINK) with an AD/DA conversion of 24 bits/192 kHz max. That means your DAW and/or CD/DAT signals are processed by a professional converter without any quality loss.
Additional features
The Central Station Plus offers three monitor outputs, each with its own passive trim control. In the Passive Speaker Control section on the interface's front panel you'll find Mute, Dim and Mono switches, but these functions can also be operated by means of the included remote. A number of Cue outputs are also at your disposal, enabling you to transmit the various input signals to the headphone amplifiers and the separate stereo output. Finally, the Central Station's digital to analogue converter delivers top-quality results with a dynamic range of 117 dB.
