If, after days of composing and editing, you want to start working on your final mix, a regular hifi set won't do, as such speakers might make your music sound better than it actually is. What you need is a reliable studio monitor that will tell you what your productions really sound like. Fortunately, the American company Presonus can help you out with that. Their Eris E5 studio monitor produces reference sound you can rely on, and despite its compact size and modest weight, it offers a number of interesting features. It's a great choice if you only have limited space at your disposal.

The Presonus Eris E5: Characteristics

Thanks to a frequency range of 53 Hz to 22 kHz, the Eris E5 is great for mixing all-round music and sound. For reference: a frequency of 53 Hz approximately equals the A-1 (the C-4 being the central C on a piano, and the E-2 being the low E on a guitar). The Eris E5 is capable of a peak SPL of 102 dB, which means you'll have more than sufficient audio to objectively judge your mix. The controls on the back of the monitor speaker allow you to tweak the trebles and the mids a little, and it's also possible to select one of three acoustic space settings for optimal playback.
