PreSonus are known to habitually release new studio monitor models of exceptional quality and at excellently affordable prices compared to its competitors. The PreSonus R 80 is an active studio reference monitor with a built-in, 150W amplifier. Packed with a ribbon tweeter and 8-inch kevlar woofer, it reproduces powerful, transparent and neutral sound with a broad sweet spot and a wide stereo image. It's this that makes this monitor more than suitable for anyone working with high-resolution audio, whether that's mixing, producing or mastering film scores.

The Presonus R 80: True-to-Life Sound

The 8-inch kevlar woofer boasts a balanced response across the entire frequency range. This not only helps to prevent listening fatigue but combines with the ribbon tweeter for a forceful, pure sound. Speaking of force, the built-in digital amplifier has a 150W power output of which 100 Watts are sent to the woofer while the rest goes to the tweeter, making the R 80 one of the most powerful monitors of its kind. To counter the acoustic limitations of the room, you can use the control panel on the back to make adjustments. Using the balanced XLR, jack or unbalanced RCA connection, it can be easily hooked up to your mixer or audio interface.

Sonic Waves

This active speaker is equipped with a special ribbon tweeter for the reproduction of the highs. This 6.8-inch AMT tweeter is made of ultra-light material and fitted with an aluminium circuit that functions as the voice-coil. The material is folded like an accordion and moves like bellows, literally launching waves of sound into the room for wider projection compared to a traditional tweeter. The efficiency of the tweeter ensures it's able to quickly respond to transients, even at high frequencies up to 22 kHz, and fills the audio signal with the air and space of the room for the most natural sound possible.
